Product compare sites – beware
As a marketer with 30 years experience I must say that I can appreciate the ingenuity that goes into creating a ‘comparison’ site that has a negative comparison of every product except the one they are selling. I bring this up since I am now consistanly seeing ‘reviews’ of DermaRadiant that are obviously generated in most part by a piece of software that searches the web for products and content that they consider competive and then post ‘review’ in the form of a standardized blurb about why the other product is not as good as the ‘unbiased’ recommendation they have. Interestingly I assume someone has had their hand slapped because I am now seeing a few sites state in their privacy policy to being owned by a specific manufacturer or marketing entity and that all content is biased and not meant to be used for evaluating a product or its effectiveness. Anyway one that I come across a lot is http://www.beautyproductscompared.com/dermaradiant-review. Although they have a hard time coming up with any negatives other than the fact there are no testimonials on our site and that Anti Wrinkle Complex is expensive – both of which are not true but they do have a solution – a free trial of Dermapril that enrolls you in an auto ship program. I’ve asked them to update this information more than once but to no avail. I would image that is because there is no one managing the content just the ROI of keeping it at the top of Google. The most unbiased reviews I have found so far come from www.truthinaging.com. If anyone can recommend other unbiased fact filled sites with skin care reviews please share them with all of us.
I must get at least 3 emails per week from companies I have never heard of with this pitch or one very similar, it amazes me because I can’t believe these emails and ads actually attract customers, I guess as long as you don’t offer a money back guarantee… When we launched DermaRadiant one of our “competitors” reported our claim of reducing wrinkles up to 98% to the National Advertising Review Council - regardless to say we successfully produced the independent documentation to support the claim and low and behold if they didn’t begin to add some of our ingredients into their products - but our products are more than one or two ingredients, the whole is definitely greater than the sum of the parts when it comes to our products.
